To wrap up our long and eventful Memorial Weekend, we spent the night at Timmy's place. He had Monday off, so we planned to grill food and drink. Original, I know.
We started off meeting Tim in Lansing at the end of his shift. We were able to finally see him in uniform, and also see where he works and meet a few of his co-workers. After seeing the squad room, it became clear that a cop's job is exactly like mine: They have cubicles too. Tim was quick to point out that his cubicle was bigger than mine, which is the truth. I have cubicle envy. Bad.
We stayed up late that night watching movies. Tim and I drank.
The next morning Hope made us breakfast. Spam and eggs. Needless to say, Ava ate a giant pile of Spam. We helped Tim clean off his deck. He has a gigantic maple tree that was raining down those seed helicopter things constantly. I think we filled most of a garbage can with them just cleaning off the deck...and there were plently left on the tree to go. This tree is a total slut.
We went to Sam's Club for steaks. We found giant Ribeyes, probably an inch and a half or two inches thick. They were like small roasts. Like I've said earlier, I'm a firm believer in the notion that a person's surroundings or situation have a direct impact on their enjoyment of any given meal. Maybe it was just the good time we had this weekend, but that was perhaps the best steak I've ever had to eat. It ranks in the top five, at least. I'm still smiling thinking about it.
Memorial Day Weekend was great this year! The weather was perfect. It felt like it went on for a week, which is a good thing. We got a lot accomplished, hung out with family, permanently marked our bodies, ate delicious food in vast quantities, drank beer and enjoyed the outdoors. What more could you ask for?
